Ok so many of you know that I am trying and I repeat, TRYING, to get into shape. Man it's kicking my butt. No other way to put it. I will share a small victory with you here. I started on Monday with a strict 6 day quick start plan. By Monday evening my body was shouting, what in the world are you doing?! The next day while reading some things on the internet I found out that I was probably not getting enough food for energy. Looking back I can tell you that it's probably true. To go from eating whenever you want to a strict diet and exercise program your body will reject it fast. Well I have modified my diet a little, not much as to mess up the process..but enough to gain more energy. I have started playing tennis, thanks to my friends KiKi Tant and Greg Latham. And have started a weight program. After this first week the diet will level out a bit...I can eat more things and the weight training and cardio will alternate days...but as of this writing...Sunday evening I weighed 189...today it's 183!! Praise God!

sunday
Wow did Tyra challenge us or what? I knew that Gentleness would be the best for her. Would have been for me too LOL. I want to thank everyone who is praying for me. I can feel your prayers and I know that God is moving in awesome ways at CIOC. I heard of a church in Westminster that is having a revival. This revival is starting it's 4th week. I know what that is like. I was thinking and praying yesterday and wondered what an extended revival at CIOC would look like. I am encouraged that we are praying and seeking God! Let's continue. As a challenge...are you still praying for the 5 people? I know I am! Take care.

Tyra Preaching Sunday
So I get to relax this weekend. It feels great to be able to focus on Scott for a whole week. Now don't get me wrong...I LOVE to preach. It's just that so many times preachers spend so much time feeding the flock they forget to eat for themselves. Please continue to pray for me as I seek God. Thanks everyone and I can tell you Tyra is READY! It's going to be GREAT!

Changing things up
Call it a mid-life crisis, although I hope I am far from mid-life, or call anything you want...I just wanted a change of scenery around my blog world. This is plain and Kim will have a duck...but for a few days I just wanted to change my look. First my hair and now my blog...where will the madness end? Stick around to find out.

Ok...About this Prayer Thing
Ok so all of you who know me know that I am full speed ahead when I get another revelation. This prayer thing has taken me in a totally new direction than I ever thought it might. Like this morning, I was about to go and talk to a member of the church, ok for all the CIOCer's stop trying to think who it was, and I went to put on a new shirt I had bought. Well, the shirt wouldn't fit. I looked at the label and it was the right size so, no I'm not getting huge...it just wouldn't fit. I was about to get mad when God spoke up and said, "I am ordering your steps." I got another shirt out of the closet and put it on. By that time when I got to that persons house...someone else was pulling in the driveway...so needless to say, I wasn't able to "mess" God's timing up. He is so awesome. Another thing I started today was the 5/5/5 prayer. This is where you seriously pick 5 people in your life that you would like to come to know the Lord. You pray the BLESS prayer (more on that in a moment) for 5 minutes, 5 days a week. Then just sit back and watch God move. The BLESS prayer is simply pray B-Body, that God will touch their Body in healing or anything else they might need. L-Labor, that God will touch their job and touch them while they are working. E-Emotional, that God will touch their emotions...you know that emotions is the first step to God moving in their life. S-Social, that God will direct people into their life to bring about His purpose for them...and finally S-Spiritual, Pray that God will make them disciples of Jesus Christ. Simple, I know, but I need it that way. So, I was up around Hwy. 81 praying for some of my friends, just riding by and asking God to touch them in a special way. Please pray for me if you are reading this...people look at me like I am a wierdo LOL. God Bless.

Prayer Class Tonight
Hey Everyone,
I am so pumped about the Prayer Class we are attending tonight. You can still come!! It's free and only will last about 1 1/2 hours. Doug Small is probably the greatest in depth teacher I have heard personally on any given topic. This guy knows his stuff. And, when it comes to prayer, has tried it and tested it. Recently during a church wide meeting in Indianopolis, Doug rented out a conference room for people to simply come pray...during the week of prayer he took many to the around the city to pray. Come if you can...it will be at High Praises Church at 6:30. Let me know if you are coming so I can save you a seat.

Prayer Meeting
Tonight we had our first prayer meeting. We had a little over 10 there tonight with more coming. It was an awesome time of me sharing the purpose of this prayer meeting. We also had some time to pray for the service on Sunday and I believe God has heard our prayers. Sunday will be awesome! I am preaching on Faithfulness so come prepared to be challenged to live a better life. Staying the same is the only option with no effort involved. (yes I came up with that on my own...so you can quote me LOL)

Telling God what to do.
Growing up with two siblings I was told what to do an awful lot. My brother Don and my sister Rhonda would always boss me around. I would always answer, "You can't tell me what to do!"
This morning as I was praying I felt God ask me, "Why do you keep telling me what to do?" I was blown away...when do I tell God what to do? Then it hit me...I tell God what to do everytime I hear His voice and I don't do what He is telling me to do. I in essence, tell God to change His mind to conform to mine instead of me changing my mind to conform to His. We must understand that God KNOWS best. When we trust Him with our whole life He will map out a perfect plan for our lives. We must understand a perfect life isn't one without heartache. Andre Crouch sang one time, "I thank God for the mountains, and I thank Him for the valleys, I thank Him for the storms He brought me through. For if I'd never had a problem, I wouldn't know God could solve them, I'd never know what faith in God could do." You see many times it is our problems SOLVED that gives us faith to face tomorrow. Peace.

Back to Blogging

Hey Everyone,
I took a few days off from Blogging. I was very blessed by Pete Zefo (a guy I have never met but hope to someday) with passes to a wonderful golf course in Hilton Head. Now believe it or not I have never been to Hilton Head. This was my first trip and I loved it. I have uploaded a couple of pictures to show you what I was able to see first hand. Golf is a hard game and until recently I really never enjoyed it. I simply played because that's what preachers do and my father in law enjoys it so it would give me an opportunity to spend time with him...but recently I began to enjoy golf simply for the beauty of the course. As you can see...without a doubt this screams there is a God. On the 12th hole, I believe it was, I hit the ball, look down the fairway, and there were 2 deer just running back and forth. What a view! Also this weekend I was given one of the greatest opportunities ever...I was asked to minister in the new sanctuary of New Covenant Church of God. This is the church my pastor, pastors. This is an awesome facility. It was just a joy to be in service with them. God Bless Pastor Marc and the congregation of New Covenant. So, now I am home...and excited about Wednesday night. This Wednesday we will be talking about kindness. It's going to be GREAT! Don't forget this Friday night's prayer meeting!

A Life Unfulfilled
What a title, huh? Recently I have been praying about how many Christians live life just as that world. Now I am not talking about drinking, drugs, rock and roll...sorry, I like rock and roll myself. But a recent study, done by Barna (check out some of these, it's interesting to read, suggests that Christians do not have much more joy than non-Christians. When you look around you, we (placing myself among the Christian crowd) have just as many problems, life issues, stress, frustration, well you get the point, oh yeah, and DRAMA as those who don't have Christ. Yet the Word of God teaches that a Christian life should be one of Joy, Love, Peace, Gentleness, (Gal. 5:22-23) So what is the deal? We will never live a life free of issues...but Christ says that we can be happy even through our issues. (John 16:33) So, how can we live a fulfilled life? Well, first we have to define, with pin point accuracy, what our goal is...not goals, GOAL. Why just one? Well John Maxwell, the a foremost leader for leaders, say you will only be good at one or two things in life...if you apply yourself you can be a 8 or 9 on a scale of 1 to 10. Now I am not saying quit your job and live the life of a hermit...what I am saying is for you, as a Christian, to live a life fulfilled, your one AND ONLY GOAL in life should be to please God! Period. Not to please yourself or live for yourself, but to please God. So many people work to please themselves. They jockey for position in the company only to achieve success only to get to that place and still be frustrated? Why? Because you will never fulfill your life according to the standards of this world. This world changes so quickly that before you can get the latest and the greatest and the ink dries, something new is out and what you have is so yesterday. But each day gives me the opportunity to serve God. That is the one constant in my life. Do NOT gauge your life by what you wear, what you drive, where you work, where you live, or even where you go to church, gauge your life by AM I PLEASING GOD TODAY? If you are, then trust me, you will live your life fulfilled. God Bless!
Saw This and Enjoyed it...
Hey Guys...I saw this, understand that I am a U2 fan, but I thought this was awesome.

I just talked with my dad...he is doing well...a few stitches in his hand and sore but he is fine. The Doc told him he would be bruised and sore for a few days. Please continue to pray for him.
Please Pray for my Dad
Hey everyone...I just have a second but I wanted to ask everyone to pray for my dad. He and my mom were in TN visiting Dollywood and he fell coming out of the hotel. My mom didn't have much information but just to say they were in the emergency room and he was having to get some stitches...I believe he is going to be ok...but please pray for him. Thanks.

Love
Tonight we begin our series on the Fruits of the Spirit. Actually we began Sunday Morning but tonight we begin talking about the actual fruit. Love is our first one. I am amazed at how easy we throw this word around. "I love you man" was a favorite quote from a TV commercial a few years ago. Tonight we will learn what love is about and what love really isn't. This message will challenge you to fall in love with God on a deeper level than ever before. See you tonight.
